Start Of Our Story
Originating in 1925, Illinois Road Contractors, Inc., a Delaware corporation, operates as a diversified company, which has evolved from road maintenance and application of liquid asphalt into many diversified subsidiaries and affiliates.
Asphalt Facility
IRC Group began operating liquid asphalt storage and handling plants in Meredosia.
Port Added
Meredosia Terminal (MT) was built in 1972 on the Illinois River, mile marker 72, in Pike County Illinois - From its beginning through today, MT is known as a "state of the art" asphalt loading and unloading facility.
2nd Asphalt Facility
IRC Group began operating a second liquid asphalt storage and handling plants in North Utica, IL to further expand our capabilities.
Stone Operations
The Asphalt Stone operation was acquired.
Trucking
IRC Group acquired State Materials Service, Inc., (SMS). SMS is a trucking firm, which operates as an interstate contract and common carrier. SMS principally transports asphalt, rock, salt, and construction equipment.
Liquid & Gas Transport
Equipment Associates was added to transport Aqua Ammonia, petroleum products, and propane.
Tarps
Tarps Manufacturing, a tarpaulin manufacturing company, was added to the group.
