Illinois Road Contractors, Inc. (IRC Group) is a diversified company based in Jacksonville, Illinois, with roots dating back to 1925. Originally focused on road maintenance and liquid asphalt application, IRC Group now operates a range of services including asphalt storage, trucking, and tarpaulin manufacturing. 1925

Start Of Our Story

Originating in 1925, Illinois Road Contractors, Inc., a Delaware corporation, operates as a diversified company, which has evolved from road maintenance and application of liquid asphalt into many diversified subsidiaries and affiliates.

1970

Asphalt Facility

 IRC Group began operating liquid asphalt storage and handling plants in Meredosia.

1972

Port Added

Meredosia Terminal (MT) was built in 1972 on the Illinois River, mile marker 72, in Pike County Illinois - From its beginning through today, MT is known as a "state of the art" asphalt loading and unloading facility.

1980

2nd Asphalt Facility

IRC Group began operating a second liquid asphalt storage and handling plants in North Utica, IL to further expand our capabilities.

1986

Stone Operations

The Asphalt Stone operation was acquired.

1991

Trucking

IRC Group acquired  State Materials Service, Inc., (SMS).  SMS is a trucking firm, which operates as an interstate contract and common carrier. SMS principally transports asphalt, rock, salt, and construction equipment.

2003

Liquid & Gas Transport

Equipment Associates was added to transport Aqua Ammonia, petroleum products, and propane.

2004

Tarps

Tarps Manufacturing, a tarpaulin manufacturing company, was added to the group.
